There's always an interesting mix of projects going on and this week is no exception…as well as an escape of water at a 12th century castle our technicians are currently working on two large fire losses at a cancer research facility and sports complex.
Back at the office our health & safety team (Steve Field & Connor Richards) together with Major Loss project Manager (Jamie Hutton) have been planning the health, safety and high level access requirements of another post fire clean at a large and complex food preparation facility. Site visits, photo's , conversations with the sites engineering team together the factories plans and load bearing calculations are all required to ensure our work and access proposals will satisfy everyone involved and safeguard our own workforce. One of the challenges is safely decontaminating the apex of the building in a void 5 meters above the production floor. Our plan will be submitted tomorrow… we’ll keep you informed of progress.
The current large losses are progressing well with good results, it's taken up to 20 trained MEWPS technicians daily for a number of weeks to complete the high level cleaning works acting as principal contractor at the leisure complex and restoring valuable and unique medical equipment (working with medical equipment specialists) at the research facility. Both projects are close to complete.
It's not just about the bigger jobs, the everyday work at tenanted and small commercial premises is always ongoing, as is training, with a number of our supervisors away this week completing first aid refreshers and SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) courses.
In next month's blog, we'll ask one of our Project Managers the best and worse things about his job.
